Only to be with you

This just came to mind: a classic U2 song. The lyrics says everything… my sentiments exactly. In that sense, and in that sense.

I have climbed highest mountain
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

The following song has been very popular on the radio because of the publicity it received from being featured on the 2nd season finale of the the hit tv show, Grey’s Anatomy! The lyrics are very emotionally powerful I find, and speak of many feelings I’ve had or am currently feeling. I want to share with you an acoustic version of this great ballad of our time:

I’ve been pre-occupied with the job thing, and missed Music Monday.  My apologies, better late than never. I think I’ve been so focused on other things that I just completely zoned out. That… and I just sent in all the application requirements for Southern Seminary, and the 2007 Desiring God Pastors Conference is going on, so I’ve been busy checkingout the messages.

At least the good news is that I’m starting work with the City of Brampton on Thursday. It’s not the job I was interviewed for, but it is also a 6month contract and a good opportunity to get my feet wet in the GIS industry, albeit at a lesser price. Hopefully, it’ll all work out, so that in 6month, I’ll be moving down to Kentucy. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Neways, here’s a song for you on this Tuesday evening. From Passion07, Chris Tomlin leading the Hillsong song, “Fire Fall Down“.  It is rare that a song out of Hillsong Church is so….. biblical!  I am thinking this should become a popular one very soon (I’m getting a bit tired of Salvation Is Here already).  And as a typical Hillsong, the Charismatic/Pentecostal refernces are clearly evident in the title and lyrics, illustrating the coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:

Video: Chris Tomlin-Fire Fall Down (Live @ Passion07)

You bought my life with the
Blood that You shed on the cross
When You died for the sins of men
And You let out a cry
Crucified now alive in me

These hands are Yours
Teach them to serve as You please
And I’ll reach out desperate to see
All the greatness of God
May my soul rest assured in You

I’ll never be the same
No I’ll never be the same

Cause I know that You’re alive
You came to fix my broken life
And I’ll sing to glorify
Your Holy Name
Jesus Christ

You changed it all
You broke down the wall
When I spoke and confessed
In You I’m blessed
Now I walk in the light
In victorious sight of You

Your fire fall down
Fall down
On us we pray
As we seek

Show me Your heart
Show me Your way
Show me Your glory

I was reading this heartfelt blog post by a close friend on homless / injustice, and what came to mind was the famous Micah 6:8 verse which says, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

My heart wrestled with what this verse meant–what does it look like to actually do justice, love kindness and humbly walk with our God? I think the chorus really says it all…

God of Justice (We Must Go) by Tim Hughes

F G C F
God of Justice, Saviour to all
G C F
Came to rescue the weak and the poor
G C F
Chose to serve and not be served

Am7 G/B
Jesus, You have called us
F
Freely we’ve received
G
Now freely we will give

**
C G/B
We must go live to feed the hungry
Am7
Stand beside the broken
F
We must go
C G/B
Stepping forward keep us from just singing
Am7
Move us into action
F
We must go

To act justly everyday
Loving mercy in everyway
Walking humbly before You God

You have shown us, what You require
Freely we’ve received
Now freely we will give

Bridge:
F G C
Fill us up and send us out, Fill us up and send us out
F G C
Fill us up and send us out Lord

For the sake of not being such a boring person running a boring blog, I thought it’d be kool to start a new weekly series that I will call “Music Monday”. Every Monday, I’ll be posting lyrics/music to some new music I’ve heard that’s been pleasure to my heart & ears, hopefully a mix of ballads and “worship” music :)
The first edition of Music Monday today features “Love You Lately” by Daniel Powter, from the latest edition of his debut self-titled CD. (HT to Dorinda Mui for introducing me to this new hit single during Sunday’s worship practice) Have a listen…

You packed your last two bags.
A taxi’s ’round the bend.
You used to laugh out loud,
But you can’t remember when.
You lost your lies.
It’s like your moving out of time,
And the whole word crumbles right beneath you.

So, I might’ve made a few mistakes,
But that was back when you would smile,
And we would go everywhere,
But we ain’t been there for awhile.
And this I know,
There’s a place that we can go-
A place where I can finally let you know.

*
‘Cause I’m the one that loves you lately.
You and me, we got this great thing.
We’re the only one’s that around,
We’re the only one’s that around this Babylon.

I hope you find whatever you’ve been lookin’ for.
Just remember where you’re from and who you are,
‘Cause there’s a thousand lights that’ll make you feel brand new,
But if you ever lose your way, I’ll be right here for you.

‘Cause I’m the one that loves you lately.
You and me, we got this great thing.
So, come back and you sit down. Relax.
Everything’s to see that you’ve come a long, long way,
And it’s the place that you should be.

The coolest thing about the music video is that it features Rachael Leigh Cook! Wow, it’s been soo many years since I fell in luv with her simple lovability in the movie “She’s All That” and “Josie and the Pussycats”… I miss seeing her on the big screen for sure; she’s still looking very vibrant after all these years!
