Thanks for the comment, Sam.

My dad has commented in person to me regarding this issue, telling me that people know of the issue but ignore it / say nothing of it / continually approaching their housing decision in ways that are completely un-missional. Such is quite counterproductive to becoming missional to their "neighbors"!

Sidenote:
I understand that while I used mostly time as the scale used to delineate "near", "nearness" maybe relative. Suburban city design and the location of where (Asian) churches are may in fact have people driving 15min as "near".

Amen, brother. It is good that you have brought out the underlying truth of why this is an issue, and not merely say that it is such. May God continue to grant you courage and boldness to confront these things.

Thanks for the encouragement, Ben. I've been holding off posting this until now, waiting for the write time to publish this.

I'm afraid of stepping on anybody toes, but this was needed to be said. Pray that more eyes would be opened to how our lives should be affected by the Gospel :)

Hey Alex,

I thought this was a terrific post. Every culture has certain assumptions that are not wise or God-honoring, but everyone thinks they're ok. This is one of them... people are fine with a large (and growing) disconnect between themselves and their church community. Church is viewed as a place you only need to be involved in once or twice a week, rather than on a consistent basis. I thought this post was really helpful. Thanks!
