Usually life’s greatest gifts come wrapped in adversity

I am, You are

I am

  1. A sinner - I fall short of God’s glory, and even without doing anything, am by nature sinful because of original sin.
  2. A saint - I am declared righteous, a chosen, holy, and faithful son of God, by the redeeming blood of Christ Jesus.
  3. A Christian - I affirm that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour.
  4. Protestant - I affirm the five “solas” of the Reformation.
  5. Reformed - I affirm the doctrines of grace–principles known to some as Calvinism.
  6. Evangelical - I believe the gospel (which is the original and truest meaning of “evangelical”).
  7. Conservative - I am generally traditional and restrained in my beliefs and cautious towards change, especially when it seems to be change merely for the sake of change.
  8. Searching - I am not limited to traditional views. I find much beauty in traditional Protestantism, but realize that in some areas traditions may not be Scriptural. Where that is the case I am open to change and improvement as the Spirit convicts me through the Word.

You are

  1. personal.
  2. plural.
  3. perfect.
  4. powerful.
  5. purposeful.
  6. promise-keeper.
  7. paternal.
  8. praiseworthy.

The “I am” part was mostly written by Tim Challies but I added #1 and #2 to make this balance with the “You are part” which was written recently by the great J. I. Packer.
