Usually life’s greatest gifts come wrapped in adversity

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)

A new version of the classic hymn, arrangement and chorus by Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio.  The new chorus is quite a simple, Biblical expression of thanks and praise… using the less sung verses in worship should bring a refreshing look into the heart and soul of this song =D

I think this should be coming on Tomlin’s new record due out in September, and probably a “new” song to be sung at Passion07.  And it’s on this week’s NewSong Cafe / Free Song @ www.worshiptogether.com

Key of D, Capo3

VERSE 1:
         D  G/D            D
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
   A/D
That saved a wretch like me!
        D D/F#        G        D
I once was lost, but now am found
        A/D     D
Was blind but now I see

VERSE 2:
Grace that taught my heart to fear,
And Grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

CHORUS:
             D/F#         G              D/F#
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free;
    G/B       D/A
My God, my Savior has ransomed me!
     D/F# G          D/F#
And like a flood His mercy reigns;
       Em7   A7          D
Unending love,  Amazing Grace!

VERSE 3:
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

VERSE 4:
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
