The valley of the shadow of death
I’m graduating… but if you ever saw my marks for the 1st term of my last year of university, you would be like–what happened!!–and could probably agree with me, that I walked through the valley of the shadow of death. The searing pain and hurt was so overwhelming that I did not think I could have made it through. I ended up barely even trying to do my schoolwork. At church I was only putting on a mask to hide my devastated spirit, using the cloak of devout study of ecclesiology/orthodoxy to cover up the blood that was dripping out of my torn body. At school, and to an extent even at CCF, I kept all my friends at a distance, protecting a heart that was so broken that I knew not if it could ever be mended.
Looking back at Passion06, this song was one that I could really to the most, the one that has most impact, that testifies to what I experienced and am I experiencing: if it was not for God’s grace, I would not be here. I exalt you LORD, for indeed–You never let go. Thank you soo much, Matt.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
Your perfect love is casting out fear.
And even when I’m caught
in the middle of the storms of this life,
I won’t turn back, I know You are near. And I will fear no evil,
For my God is with me.
And if my God is with me,
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?Oh no, You never let go,
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go,
In every high and every low
O no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me.You keep on running and you never let go
Singing Lord You never let go of meAnd I can see a light
that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare.
And there will be an end
to these troubles, but until that day comes,
We’ll live to know You here on the earth. And I can see a lightthat is coming for the heart that holds onA glorious light beyond all compare. And there will be an endto these troubles, but until that day comes,We’ll live to know You here on the earth.Yes, I can see a light that is coming
for the heart that holds on,
And there will be an end to these troubles,
but until that day comes,
Still I will praise You,
still I will praise You.
